Here is something that all off-road drivers know: You had better pack a portable air compressor before you hit the trails. They also know that while the standard air pressure recommended by the manufacturer is perfectly fine on pavement, it’s way too high for off-road use.
Out on those trails, you will need lower air pressure for added traction in mud, sand and over rocks. You might need as little as 10 pounds of air pressure less for the best flotation or you might need to let out more, it all depends on the terrain and conditions.
But no matter how much air you take out of your tires, you must inflate them when you are preparing to get back on the paved roads. So, the real question is how you plan on airing your tires back up.
There are several options available, including using a hand pump, but the smart choice, the right choice is the Air Armor M240. There is nothing more reliable than this 12-volt compressor that runs off your battery. Unlike engine driven compressors, our 12-volt air compressor can be placed anywhere you have space.
